in egypt we dont have sand particles except when there is a sand storm , esp in Feb.
so dont be worried , but protect ur camera in the usual way.

If you are using your Camera in an urban setting, (site seeing within the City, museum etc...) I guess you won't face any problems with the sand.

On the other hand I wouldn't recomend taking it along unprotected to the beach or in a desert setting. To use it there I think a waterproof rain Jacket for camera should do the trick. Its some kind of sealable plastic bag with a transparent filter attached to it. You should readily find it in your local camera store.

Edit to matshemesh: DSLR is Digital Single-Lens Reflex Camera. Its a professional style camera that uses a prism and a movable mirror to reflect/defract the actual picture being taken from the lens to the view finder. Giving the photographer the advantage of seeing the same picture that will be taken (frame and focus).
