Wait for your baby to give you cues that he is not satisfied with the current flow. Does it take a lot longer for him to finish a bottle? Is he making loud sounds and seeming frustrated when he has a bottle? At 4 months my daughter just started refusing the slow flow nipples, I switched to medium flow and she was fine.

At that age you want to try to keep it like it is. With my daughter she seemed to be content with the first/slow nipple; until she was about 7 months or so. And that was only because she wanted more out of her bottle, as if she was not getting enough in one swallow. It is really up to you! Does your son seem content with what he has now, or does he sometimes fuss while he is drinking from the bottle? In the case of the sippy cup, not until he is at least 9 months. Even then it will take him a while to understand that the cup can be hard, unlike the nipple. And he still has to figure out how to suck out of it. Honestly some sippy cups are difficult for some kids to drink out of. Your a mom, what feels right to you? : )

My daughter did the same thing around 7 months. She snacked all day, but would never finish a bottle at once. Her formula intake cut in half. She went back to normal a month or so later. My guess is that she was too "busy" to eat. She still takes her time eating for the most part. The other night, she ate an 8 ounce bottle in a matter of minutes. I kept feeling her bib to see if she'd dribbled it all out the sides of her mouth. If he's doing fine with the fast flow, I'd stick with it. If you're concerned that he's eating too fast, you could stop in the middle to burp him.

Well, one reason to change, is if the baby is making a loud sucking noise when he is drinking his milk. If he is taking the milk fine with no problems, there is no need to change the flow. However you think it is taking him too long to drink 1 bottle, then i would change it for that reason also.

i think some of the nipples have months on them. also you could just try the next one and see if he is ready and can use them easily.

I wouldn't bother now! If he has started on food, try very very slowly introducing a trainer cup!
