The founding fathers recongized that you can't fight a war democratically. If every military maneuver depended on a vote then we would lose every war and we wouldn't have a country now.

I agree with you to a degree.
The only difference is that our founding fathers also had generals that were out on the battlefield WITH their troops, not making decisions from the safety of Camp David. People are much more careful about the decisions that they make when their assses are also on the line.

Take a look at just how poorly educated far too many people that even post on here seem to be. For example, look at the people that believe the stupid 911 conspiracies. You want wackos like that determining your future?
We vote for good leaders and people to represent us. In 1940, very few people saw the danger from Hitler & Tojo. They were inclined to just let them do what they want. If Hitler had conquered Europe and North Africa, and Japan had most of the Asian Pacific, they could then attack us 5-10 years later. That was in fact Hitler's original plan. They might have succeeded if we had to vote on our foreign policiy issues.
The average person does not have access to sensitive information, and it would be dangerous to let our enemies know exactly what we know. Add to this that there's a portion of the population who seem dedicated to destroying America and who constantly put out propaganda to fool people. I'm thinking of moveOn.org, George Sorros, and Micheal Moore etc. here. We live in a representative democracy, and foreign policy is determined by the people we elect.

I can't believe people are still whining over this election. Get over it already. If you ask most people, they have no idea why we are in Iraq in the first place and you want them to decide on it? We are a republic and we vote to put people into office who are there to work the details and vote on our behalf. Since this was practically a landslide vote in favor of it, I suspect most of their constituents were too.

We do. You vote on your congressmen and senators to represent you. They vote on the wars. Trying to hold a vote on every event including wars we would have to vote every day. When we vote every four years only 45% of the people show up, and thats a good turn out. If we voted every day only about 2% would show up to vote.

We vote for those we feel will represent us. So in a way, we do vote, through our representatives. But most don't make calls or write letters voicing their opinion. They do on here, but not where it matters. And before you ask, yes, I send letters.

Oh wonderful idea, instead of having 500 commander in chiefs now you want 300,000,000. That makes sense to me, NOT
You can only have one Commander in Chief and that is the President, not you, not Congress, the President

because, contrary to popular belief, we don't live in a democracy. we live in a republic. in a true democracy, we would vote on everything. as it is, we vote on representatives to vote on the issues for us.
remember the pledge of allegiance
"and the republic for which it stands"
america has never been a democracy. i don't know how that got started.

Because something like a war shouldn't be decided by someone, like you for instance, a whiny, biased, blind liberal.
