Use a dose of bone meal or rose bush fertilizer-just follow the instructions. Also be sure to deadhead as soon as the bloom is spent. They should get at least 6 hours of sun--but after the initial first bloom they usually aren't as large as in the spring--at least mine aren't!

The first bloom is generally the best. If it's been very hot, that could put more stress on the plant so the blooms will not be as large. I've had the same problem this year and I think it's because of the extreme heat this summer.

when you bought the rose, there were many FEWER branches on it.... now there's more branches... more branches equal more flowers, but they'll be smaller.... this is why you should remove the old flowers back to strong , seven-leaf area on the stems.... and not let them just 'fall off'.... next spring, when you prune the rose the right way, you'll remove a lot of branches and your first roses will be the big ones as before....
