You would have a loss of power, vehicle could start to miss or stutter cause of the rear o2 sensor not reading correctly a muffler shop could do a backpressure test to check the cat or you could do a temp test on the cat (drive around for 10 minutes or so and check the cat. with a heat gun) if its really high like 450-700 degrees that means the cat is plugged

If your engine runs great, there is no problem with the catalytic converter. A lean mixture not corrected, or burning leaded gas will plug up the converter, and when it plugs up the engine will slow down and begin to over heat and finally will not run.
To check it yourself, if you have a tachometer, after the engine warms up note the idle RPM.
Disconnect the exhaust pipes at the headers and again check the RPM, it should be the same. Do not run the engine very long with the pipes disconnected, because of fire danger or damage to nearby parts.

well like the first guy said tempature gun
and if you are like me and there are no smog test's in your state. Gut it. cut a hole in the bottom with a dremmel tool
then punch out the platinum/whatever else lining and then fold the cut piece back over the hole and tac weld it back in place and when you get the time weld the piece back on as good as possible so if it is ever visually inspected it will not fail.
or you can just by an 02 sim and cut the cat out and run a straight pipe into your exhaust.
02 sims are like 75.00 and a new high performance cat is like 95.00 just replace it if it needs replaced. like i had to do after messing my cat up.
cat is short for catalytic converter.
good luck.

i've had this happen to me on two trucks a dodge and a chevy caused by straight piping the exhaust. At first you will all of sudden loose power whith throttle pushed then it will get to the point of no power but you will still be able to run on one of my trucks after driving a while and getting out while idleing i could hear rattleing in the cat. I have heard of plugged cats glowing red. take it to a muffler shop and have them test it out if any of this occurs

If it's plugged the vehicle would not run. There's really not much that can plug it up unless the material inside has rusted or corroded. The only thing that flows through it are exauhst gasses.
Congratz on the miles.

stand behind it and have some one raise the idle up a little if the exhaust flows free on it then it should be ok,you can also take it to a shop, and they have a machine to check the back pressure with, that's the best way to do it,then you know for sure, good luck with it.

If you think it might be clogged just have it changed. the warranty is way gone and it has outlived it actual life span of 150k miles.
