cats are very independent creatures. They will come to you when they want to, and they are not really an animal that you train. Some cats are skittish and run away anytime somebody comes into a room, some are very loving. As far as ferrets are concerned, i have never personally owned one as a pet(they are actually illegal in my state), though i have had friends that have had them. When i was around them they were friendly creatures and fun to be around. My opinion is that you are probably better suited for a ferret based on the criteria listed in the question.

Well a ferret's personality is best described as a cross between a dog and a kitten. I say kitten because ferrets love to play and never really grow out of that where as kittens do. Ferrets can be taught to walk on a harness and LOVE to play. They do however have a somewhat musky smell even if they have been descented. There is a product you can add to their water that helps reduce this odor as well as regular baths. They are easily litter box trained and require the same attention to the litter box a cat would. (most people however do clean it more often to reduce the musk odor)
Ferrets have been known to be cuddlers as well so I think the the more accurate question you need to ask yourself is
Do you want something that stays a perpetual "kitten" or something that will grow and become lazy or detached as cats can often do.
Both are great pets if the right match in personalities are found and of course how the animal is treated and handled.

If you whant thtkind of pet them a ktten is best. ferrets are cut and all,but a kitten does not run away and u may not trust me,but u can actually train a kittenif its at a young age it would be easier. A ferret take allot of attention and need to get its cage needs to be change weekly.

my choice would be a kitten.

I think a kitten would be better for you. Kittens don't have to be caged, they are very easy to train to use a littler box and they are easy to care for. Kittens also smell better than ferrets in my opinion.

Both are nice pets but if you want one that is not afraid of humans and will definitely not run away , nothing better than a cat. They are clean too, so very low maintenance and independent pet. Too bad I'm allergic to them, I own a little dog I love but he tries to run out the door at every chance he gets and it;s annoying and makes worry.

cats are good because they like 2 cuddle with u
and u can talk 2 them and tell them secrets.
they can here wat ur saying and they know wat ur saying 2
so i have 2 kittens and i ask thenm ousteions i play with them and tell them my secrets
