we have to date spent 147 billion on that WORTHLESS city...it has been an entitlement city for 70 years..the inhabitants don't work...why should they??? they have been living off the government "tit" forever...and since Katrina the murder rate has risen to the highest in the nation...n.o. HAS ZERO STRATEGIC VALUE ANY MORE...it is just a very dangerous tourist trap..run by a a racist mayor and an incompetent and stupid governor.

One of the best questions about Katrina that I've seen yet.
These people got a government trailer which was better than what they lived in pre-Katrina.
These people still get a big brown check every month.
They are all probably planning a law suit against the federal government.
And they still live below sea level.
Think about it... if you were this kind of free loading loser, would you actually get out that rat hole of a city?

Well, when you choose to live on a coast and in this case on a coast that is lower that sea level, this will happen. I don't feel that I should have to pay for their stupidity. There is no guarantee it won't all be wiped out again this year or next year. You saw the TV footage of them complaining and tearing up that stadium. It didn't make me feel like I wanted to donate any of my hard-earned money to them. Enough is enough. Now there are more problems in New Orleans because it is filling up with illegals.

I still wonder how many more times taxpayers will subsidize those who rebuild
A) in harm's way
B) over nature's sponge (barrier islands and wetlands that are supposed to absorb storm surge), making it ineffective
That's the bigger issue -- if we weren't ever doing that to begin with, we wouldn't even be having these FEMA trailer, etc, discussions
But we keep CREATING these unnecessary problems, we refuse to break the cycle of misery and continue to focus on our immediate desires. Where is the leadership in that?

Compare Mississippi with New Orleans and you will find that the coastal devastation was the same. Yet they have come much farther in recovering. Why? The people don't wait for someone to come along and fix it for them. They did it with there own hard work and determination.

they are still busy finding out what happened to the walls. with 350 million to that area and i dont know where the money went. they could have employed the whole town and have rebuilt many houses by now. the people need to take action- governments have failed the people- the people need to take power back for themselves.

Pathetic? No. Sick. I do not hold any degrees from any prestigious universities, but I know enough not to build below sea level. "You can't fool Mother Nature."
