i really need to know what yall think about this. ok, so i have gotten quite a few sonograms and all of them said sept. 18th or 20th for my due date. so i think that makes my conception date around the 26th of dec. (right?) but i am 37 weeks and the past few times i have gotten a sonogram he said that the baby looks big, but didnt change my due date. what is the most accurate time to set a due date... by the way, my conception date is REALLY important in figuring out who the father is. but when i went to the doctor i am measuring fine, not big and not small. your thoughts please... so i need to know if i am just freaking out or what.

Your most accurate due date would come from an early ultrasound. Weight/size measurements during later ultrasounds can be off as much as 1-2 pounds bigger or smaller. Its harder to get more accurate measurements because the baby is larger and more cramped.

Good luck!

I do get disappointed when people have multiply partners and end up pregnant. You should be a little more responsible but besides my feelings I'm not here to lecture you I'm not your mother....But ultra sounds aren't always very accurate they can guess the baby's size and weight but they are usually off. So you might measure the same for most of the time then measure ahead then measure behind. They may say you are having a 10 pound baby and its really only 8.5 pounds. Its a guessing game that they play I wouldn't worry to much just wait till the baby is born. Then get a paternity test done that would be the best way to find out who the daddy is.

How big did the person doing the sonogram say the baby was measuring? They usually tell you the pounds. Chances are you are just going to have a big baby.

The most accurate time to set a due date based on ultrasound is the first trimester. After that genetics kick in. Most doctors will not change due dates after the first trimester.

Melissa is right. The ultrasounds during the first trimester is most accurate. Babies are all about the same size during that time and then the genetics kick in. So your due date is probably right.

Just go with what they tell you. There is no point in arguing with them about it, it will just make your time more uncomfortable, the baby will come when it is ready. I do understand your frustration though, (i too have a big baby, with dates all over the place.) Im not going to judge you as far as the men go, best thing would be to supoena them both to have paternity tests after the child is born, neither one have to know about the other, you just need to tell them it is for routine DNA checks. (which many hospitals will do now.)
