The longer your with some one the novelty wears off the good things and the more of the less desirable things you begin to notice. Everyone has good and bad points and sometimes it just takes longer to uncover the not so good ones. The same is true for non human things like a new car for instance.

I think strangers have a higher regard for limitations and after a while those boundaries seem to fade away, and the gossip and nastiness comes out. It's just true...plain and simple.

I think that after a while you start seeing a whole lot more in people that you wouldn't quite pay mind to when you don't see them as often, and end up focusing on those qualities or standards, etc. and often they conflict with your own and that's likely the "why".

Familarity breeds contempt because sometimes when you become too familar you get to see other peoples flaws and traits that can get on your nerves. Hence what is initially endearing becomes annoying.

How do you think you'd feel if you lived in a single room w/ the same person for a straight 6 months & they had the most annoying habits, like clicking gum loudly or constant burping?

If you spend too much time with someone, it is easy to get bored and end up hating them because you feel imprisoned. Every person is an individual, and needs to have time to be alone from time to time.
