Don't use cruise control at night when you are tired. It will put you to sleep. Don't use cruise control when it is raining. When you go thru a deep puddle the vehicle generally will slow down, with cruise on it will fight to maintain the speed and you will hydroplane and skid. Cruise is good on long trips on major highways with no traffic. Like 80 or US10 etc. Using cruise control will give you a constant speed and that will improve your miles per gallon overall. Happy cruising !!

There aren't many negative effects as long as it's used safely in very light traffic. The system shuts off when the brake or clutch pedal are touched so it's not inherantly dangerous. They can help reduce fatigue on long stretches. Using cruise control can improve fuel economy by maintaning constant speed. On hilly terrain though, you can achieve better fuel economy without cruise control if you let some speed bleed off toward the top of hills use the next descent to get your speed back.
