(simple math)

Hi,
To get the square feet of any rectangle (square or a room longer than it is wide) just multiply the length times the width.
So, yours would be 12 x 12 = 144 sq. ft.
Incidentally, I believe that most carpet comes in square yards, but you may be installing some other type. Just in case, there are three feet in a yard, so your room would be 4 x 4 = 16 sq. yds.
Hope this helps and good luck.

You are asking for the area of the room. Area is length of the room in feet "times" the width of the room in feet. In this case, it is 12 ft. X 12 ft. = 144 square feet.

You want to purchase 144 square feet of carpet to fully cover an area 12 ft. by 12 ft.

since the shape of the room is a square so area of a square is side x side .therefore 12 x 12=144.so the area of the room is 144 square feet.so the maximum size of carpet should be 144 square feet.

You should cut a piece of cardboard 12" by 12" then place it on the floor in one corner of the room. You can then draw around the square, if you repeat this for the whole room and the count the squares. Easy!
