Because they have no motivation. Plenty of busy people keep going even when they are physically tired because mentally they are alert and ready for challenges.

Lazy people seem to turn that off in their brains. Physically they could probably get up and accomplish so much, but if you head isn't in it, then you're kinda doomed.

It can be anything. Overactive thyroid is a possibility, or low blood sugar level. It can also be simply low self esteem, which will effect your energy level and ability to grasp new knowledge. You're also at an age where a part of you will want to go turbo and another part wants to be simply left alone. This was me to a T when I was 16. I wanted to do everything, but was either too lazy to bother, or just couldn't bring myself to remember in time to take action. I was really bad for that. I suggest overactive thyroid because you mentioned you're not overweight. People who are overweight are more prone to an inactive thyroid and thus have a miserable time losing weight, much harder than an average person who has all their systems functioning rather normally. An overactive thyroid would tire you out. It will also throw your mind off balance and make it harder for you to focus. It's worth checking out if you're so inclined. A low blood sugar level would make you tired, cause you to be off your game, both mentally and physically, and can also be a factor in your situation. You're not overweight, so I'm guessing you stay away from the fats, the sugars, and the junk. Are you staying away to the point where you're not consuming any form of sugar at all? This could do a number on you too. I'm not saying go out and buy a McDonald's burger, or load your fridge up with Coke, but perhaps consume something to give your blood sugar level a boost. If you're really health-conscious, here's something you can consume that'll boost your sugar level without compromising your health; Consume carrots, or drink freshly squeezed carrot juice. If you can't drink it straight, mix it with apple juice and it won't be so bad. I say this because it boosts your blood sugar level. It also helps sharpen the mind. However, if you this on an empty stomach, you'll skyrocket your blood sugar level. I learned this from a diabetic.

Maybe they are just tired and appear to be lazy. Their tiredness may be cause by a metabolical disorder or some other problem. So they may appear to be lazy to you and I, but really they are just tired and can't help being anything but tired.

They are probably lazy because they are tired.....malnutrition, slow metabolism, bad genes, lack of motivation, depression, chemical imbalance, environment.......there's a host of reasons, some fixable, some not.

Because when you are active your brain releases endorphins which give you more energy. Naturally, lazy people don't release these, making them prone to tiredness.
