I look first at the answers, and then if they are consistent with what I believe, then I look at their 360 profile. If that is good, I usually connect. And if this is even better, I invite them as friends. I even got to meet some of my friends. They have a church, so I got the address and went there to meet them. They are wonderful people. I am going to see them in a few weeks. It is only a 3 hour drive, so this is good.

I used to have a lot of contacts until I was warned about the trolls. Now I have two, but I accept email so anyone can contact me. I enjoy hearing from people.
Most of us on senior citizens do not have contacts because they will go in and mark our answers with a thumbs down or report us like someone did to a fellow sister on this site.
ANSWER: I pick my contacts by those who ask to be a contact and if I trust them, they become my contact.
I hope that answers your question. It appears to be the safest way to prevent snooping.

So far I have not , I am still learning all about pcs and when I do something new I usually mess up big time. Hopefully in a month or two I'll know what the heck I,m doing. Rather hard for me to see all that small print, I'm going to go get a printer tomorrow.

Anyone who interests me.
I don't necessarily choose contacts who are people I like, or people whose opinions I agree with - for example, a couple of my contacts are white supremacists. It's not because i'm into white power - in fact, i'm all for equal rights - but i'm interested in why someone would think that way, so I put them in my contacts so that I could keep up-to-date with their questions as easily as possible. Not agreeing with something is also a perfect motivation for learning more about it - you have to understand something to stop it, and learning is the whole reason for Yahoo Answers!

If our interests are the same or I feel some connection in the answers they give. I do my homework.
What ruffles me feathers is when someone wants to connect and their Q'sand A's are private and you can't contact them.
I prefer to keep contacts who are Christians or at least believe in God.

By how they answer questions. If they seem to be on my level I choose them as a contact. I recently made a woman mad and she went through all my QA's and turned in the ones she thought they would violate me for. Very childish and insecure. She gave herself away when she made up a new account and followed my QA's and gave me thumbs down. I asked a question and chose her as best answer. Her phony name was "wisewomanwalking" and being Native I new it was a "TV" phony name.

I select people with humorous witty and/or intelligent deep thought out answers depending on the question. I try to only add people who appear serious about the section I am in.
