Even if you find out who won the bid, it's probably too late to recover personal items. Typically, the take the good items and put personal stuff in a dumpster immediately.

Chances are your items will have been auctioned off by an auction company each piece auctioned individually unless they sold the entire unit sight unseen. If your unit had a lien on it then it would have been advertised in the paper one month prior to the sale to give you ample time to pay for the unit in cash even right up to 10 minutes prior to the auction. The ad would have listed the actioneer holding the auction. You could try to contact them they will have a list of people that were at the auction bidding and who purchased what items. Chances are though they would not have purchased your childrens photos, personal items like that would have been left inside the unit for the owner to claim or the new buyer would have disposed of them if they had purchased the entire unit as is.

USUALLY, the sale happens aft the foreclosure. Go direct to the place of storage and put the same question to them...usually, sales of that nature are held like a garage sale and the personal items are picked through by strangers...but i doubt others would want your photos so get to the MGR of the storage and hold your tongue and be kind, but inquisitive. You'll get more honey with kindness then vinegar.

I run a Storage facility, I know first hand. unfortunately the best you can do is ask if the bidder is willing to return the personal docs, pics, etc. But usually the person who bought the unit just tosses them. My best advice is to stay on them call daily and ask them to get ahold of the bidder for you. I see this month after month, its kind of heart breaking
