Josh Smith and Joe Johnson are pretty good and they did get Al Horford all they need is a point guard that won't get injured

Teams go through injuries, and always lose a vauleable player, but the Hawks have something called depth, to work through that. My guess is yes, they'll still be playing when playoff time comes.

The Hawks have the athletes to provide good depth, a few quality go to guys, as well as several other under development. If they are not hit hard by injuries they could be deeper than most teams in the east. The rebounding is pretty good not great but they lack defensive intensity. Horford might be the key, but that will be asking a lot of the rookie who though well rounded and athletic may not have the back to the basket game that the Hawks need to take pressure off Johnson and Smith, Horford should add some badly needed defensive intensity. They could probably handle some injury problems at the point, I don't think Law will be great at the point but there is depth there if not an obvious starter. The wings are strong and versatile able to score and there are some good rebounders among them as well as a few above average passers. Maybe Alton Lister will be a key as a post player who had a long career who got by on technique and being a good fundamental player, he will be coaching post play. I see the Hawks as being like the Clippers who even when they have a solid roster just do not understand what it takes to come out every night and play hard as a team and like the Clippers until they do you just can't expect it from them because they don't expect it from themselves. One thing that could help would be to pick up a few players with playoff and better yet finals experience, the pick ups need not be guys who got a lot of minutes but know what it takes just the same. On paper it looks like they could be a playoff team but don't count on it.

You would think so, being in the Eastern conference. But they're probably still a few years away.

LOL
But seriously, it is the Eastern Conference you're talking about and since they have to have 8 teams in the playoffs, I suppose it could happen . . . . not likely, but it could.

Perhaps the question should be whether they will be able to beat the Celtics when the time comes!
