On - allows the fuel to flow to the carbs.
Off - stops the fuel flowing to the carbs.
Pri - primes the carbs after you have run out of fuel.

You DO NOT have a reserve.

Your bike has vacuum carbs and will only draw fuel through the line when the engine needs it. Under normal conditions, leave the tap switched to 'On'. If you leave the bike standing for a while switch it to 'Off'.

The 'Pri' (prime) position is unique to bikes with vacuum carbs. If you run out of fuel, the carbs cannot draw fuel in when you refill the tank, because they need a vacuum to do so. The 'Pri' position allows you to get fuel into the carbs in order to restart the bike, before switching over to 'On'.

on- fuel is on vaccum feed
off- fuel is off
pri- fuel is on gravity feed to get as much fuel to the carbs as possible to allow the carbs to be primed.

You don't have a reserve and if for some reason your bike stops being able to use the vaccum of the fuel selector and you will have to use the pri position till you get a new fuel selector

One thing the guys above haven't said yet is:

Don't leave the petc-ck in the "prime" position. That's only for the unusual few times that the carburetor is empty and you want to get gas to it. You'll set it to that position after your cycle has fallen over, or if you've let your motorcycle sit for a while. As soon as it's running again, move the switch over to "on."

Twisted Ace answered this the best. Any answers telling you that you have reserve don't know what they're talking about.

On- Normal operating using engine vacuum to open the petcock.
Off- Closes the petcock.
Pri- Prime, as stated, to priime the carbs via gravity. Basically an open valve.

they gave you some good answers.

turn it off when you turn the bike off. on when you go. that way, the bowl of the carb has it just like it wants it when you are ready to go and doesn't have to sit in gas while your drinking a beer.

Most of the ones I have seen have On, Off and Res, not sure what Pri means. Prime maybe?

Being a swashbuckling archaeologist, I travel a lot.

Below is the best site for travel planning, and has great prices!
