'Too big'? 'Too big' for what? 'Too big' by what standard?
You must learn that definitions of what is 'too big' will differ between the people who answer. Also, these answerers will likely change their opinions as they age, so if you value their opinion today, you should keep checking back in the future!
The only answer that matters in such a question is that sought by those involved - and EVEN THEN, they are likely to be formulating their answer on the basis of the prejudices of themselves and others, and impossible-to-make-accurately predictions of the future i.e. the people themselves cannot know!
Ergo, this is a often a silly question that you shouldn't even consider. Sometimes it may be worth consideration e.g. if the older partner is a woman of 40 and the younger man wants children, but at 26 and 18 such a consideration is out of the question.
What else might be the worry? That the younger won't be as intellectualy compatible with the younger? Yet age is no guarantee of knowledge *or* wisdom! If the older partner *is* intellectually advanced over the other, then it is *this* that is the problem, not the age, and can be addressed.
From the simple perspective that I guess you're asking the question, don't worry. Think about the qualities of the relationship not the vagaries of age difference.

Why not look at the age difference in 12 years.. 38 (man) an 30 (woman) what about 32 years.. 58 and 50. Is that too much of an age difference? It's the same number of years. However, the maturity and experience may be too big of a difference.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

It all depends on how mature the two people are. An age gap between two people is only a big deal when an indviduals are at different places in their life.

If these two people care for each other, share commons interests, and find themselves wanting a lot of the same things from life, then I don't see why it would be a big deal.

I think an 18 year old is way too young to be thinking seriously about marriage that's for sure. And men don't reach maturity till at least 30 (just kidding boys)

Nope, I think it is compatibility and where each of you are in your life at that time. If he wants children and you are still trying to figure out what you want to be for the rest of your life then obviously its not going to work out right now. But if you two are on the same page and can be mature enough to talk to each other about both of your interests then its up to you!

For that age yes, if you both were 25+ it would be a bit better.

Unless you both are extremely mature.

In another time, no-- but currently, given the prolonged period of adolescence, I would say that the age discrepency is somewhat problematic.
