Can you tell me what this message means? Do I have to start worrying about my engine?

It means there is a problem with the wiring or connections in the crankshaft sensor circuit. A trip to the mechanic is in order for a full diagnosis and repair. That problem can keep the engine from running, so I'd get it checked out soon>

You probably don't need to worry about the engine, but you won't pass an emissions test.

The CPS pretty much does what its name implies. It tells the engine management computer what rotational position the crankshaft is in. Most commonly when you see this code it's the sensor itself or the wiring to it. A good mechanic can localize the cause in a few minutes in most cases.
