I have my resident card and want to visit family in Mexico for a couple of months. Do i need a passport to come back? If so, where should it be from, Mexico or the US? and if i need it from the US do i need to get my passport from the same state that I got my residency from? I would be flying to come back to the US.

Some of the answers seem very confusing. You are a permanent resident of the U.S. with a green card...Right? If so, then you are not a U.S. citizen and cannot yet get a U.S. passsport. You are a citizen of Mexico...right? So you will need to use your Mexican passport . You will not be allowed on an international flight without a passport.

Yes you will need a passport. At the moment crossing borders by land does not require a passport yet, it will start very soon though. But if you are flying by air, yes you absolutely need one. You can go anywhere to apply, it does not have to be in the state you are a resident from. They are just needing proof that you are a US resident. I have the website that explains everything for you...Take care and have fun!

You need the Mexican passport, and whatever you have to prove that you are a legal US resident (green card?)

One time, I traveled to Mexico with my son that have double nationality, but only had the USA passport, on the way back Mexican in migration make us pay like 50dollars. because we didn't fill the form when arriving to Mexico. So make sure you have your Mexican passport to prove that you're Mexican.
