Niacin has been prescribed for me to lower my total cholesterol which is only 235. I'm concerned about the possible side effects of Niacin, particularly the dizziness and upset stomach. I do not have high blood pressure and am taking no other medication except multivitamins and fish oil.

niacin is much better for you than the statin drugs used to lower cholesterol. Take your niacin at bedtime or with your evening meal. You did not say how much fish oil you are taking but you can safely work up to 9,000 mg day if nesessary. The combination of niacin and fish oil should take care of the cholesterol problem. you jhave an enlightened md since he did not Rx a statin. Look up the side effects of Lipator and hug your doc next visit

Keep the dose low.

Also check out www.grapefruitsolution.com.
It is a natural grapefruit supplement that works wonders with cholesterol and blood pressure. I had bought a large number of bottle and sold the extras on Ebay. I did not want it to expire.
One lady in her 70's bought a bottle and took it per directions.
After 30 days she went to her doctor to be checked and her cholesterol was down, way down. I am sure the results are different for each person. But this really works.
I got the program for weight loss so I have not had my cholesterol checked. But I bet it is down.
Check it out online.
