There was an episode in season 1 where a reporter (hired by Lex to investigate Clark) blew up his truck and filmed Clark being unharmed taking off his burning shirt.
It was the reporter that ended up trapped with Johnathon at the end of season 1 and Lex shot at the beginning of season 2

It got replaced by a head-spinning sequence of "Product Placement Advertising" vehicles. For a poor farm family, the Kents sure did get new cars frequently.
