Assuming you mean x³ + 2x² + x + 12:-
(x + 3) = x - (-3)
Using synthetic division:-

******|1*****2*****1*****12
**(-3)|*****-3*****3*****-12
******|1****-1*****4******0

Answer is x² - x + 4
