Check ur power supply cable that runs into ur cd drive, see if its properly connected

This is what to do:
First, press the eject button on the drive to check power.
If it doesnt open, youve either got a broken drive, a broken power cable (not likely),a broken PSU or maybe the cable has fell out of the back of the drive (which also isnt likely).

If it does eject:
restart your computer and re-check.
if you still cant see it, go to control panel then system, then hardware, then device manager. Look under CD drives, press the plus sign. Is there a caution symbol underneath the item?
If there is, you have a driver issue. find your drivers on the net, download and install, restart.

else;
your drive is probably broken, buy a new one. Test, the new one. If the new one works, your old drive was wrecked, else, you have a software problem. Check for a virus, or reinstall windows.

cd and dvd drives occasionally dissapear from your p.c due for many reasons
starting from the most basic, the cd drive needs to appear in the "standard cmos setup",this shows all ide devices that are connected to your p.c,then go to "intergrated peripherals and choose the top option"on-chip ide device"
this will then show the bios settings for each ide device,by default they should all be set to "auto",in this mode the system automatically detects the best mode for each device
if any changes are made remember to save them by pressing "save and exit set up" before leaving set up
after this you should then check the cd drive and see if it has re-appeared,if not then right click "my computer">hardware>device manager>cd roms>right click cd rom>uninstall>then once the drive has been uninstalled restart the p.c and upon restart windows will recognize the drive as a new device and load the appropriate drivers, this sometimes works as it installing new drivers
other jobs include cleaning the cd roms lens ,use a cd lens cleaner and run for 30 seconds
finally if all else fails try a system restore to as far back as possible or before the cd drive vanished
as windows saves the p.c,s settings and configuration,it would of saved the p.c in a condition were it had a visible cd drive
i hope this helps
good luck mate!

Press "windows + Pause", this will open your device manager.

First check in the Device Manager, make sure your driver isn't corrupted; if it has an exclamation point in a yellow circle, it needs to be reinstalled.

If it is fine, check in "settings" and make sure the drive letter isn't conflicting with the hard drive.

Then check the cables, and make sure they are secure.

Then open the BIOS and make sure it is detecting the drive.

Shut down and check the cables that go to the CD drive. If it's still gone when you restart, it may be broken.
