Jean, don't worry, I don't want to be there. Glad you like it.

No. I left in September of '65. When I was here in the states on active duty Navy, I'd go 'up home' 2 - 3 times a year. Now that mom and dad have passed on, even though all but one of my siblings live there, I don't go up. I finally made my 30th class reunion (5th I was in Japan, 10th I was in Sardinia, and 20th I was in Israel) and after going over the alumni listing I found that over 80% of my 164 class mates (class of '65) live in or within 50 miles of home.
If my wife were to pass away, I most likely would move 'back home,' as there's nothing here in this area to keep me here.
When I retire, we DO plan on moving out to Oregon to be near our grandkids.

Yes. A quiet "Mayberry RFD" town of fewer than 2,000 people. Nothing here has changed significantly in the last 40 years. Nobody here wants anything to change, except to restore the old houses to look like they did when they were built 100 or more years ago.
We don't want new people moving in unless they are related to one of the old pioneer families, so I won't tell you where we are.
