Death begins when the heart stops beating. Deprived of oxygen, a cascade of cellular death commences, beginning with brain cells and ending with skin cells. Death is a process rather than an event. Specifying the moment of death usually involves deciding on a point from which there can be no return.

As to what happens after if you're referring to the spiritual aspects, that would depend upon one's beliefs. No one actually knows but many have very strong beliefs.

If you're referring to a biological aspect, the organism begins to decay, eventually reaching a state that only leaves the skeletal remains. These too will eventually decay but over a much longer time period than the flesh and organs.

A lot of research has been done on what people experience when they are 'clinically dead', or comatose. They call it NDE: near death experience.

I recently read an article which was written in 1985 about this. lt touched me so that l typed it up in a 360 blog entry.

http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-EnNdfhAwRKQgjDedjVEpYA--?cq=1

One of the reasons why it intrigued me was that it is so much in line with everything that Jesus taught. For me it was a confirmation of everything l already believe as a Christian.

Dear Brother / sister:
Death is compulsory every living thing will one day it will die.
1.What is the death:
The death is belongs to your soul. The soul is covered to your body . You cant see the soul you cant touch the soul just you can feel. this is long discussion: The god will take your soul from your body, body will become like without movements.
it means death.

2. After Death:
After death: ( I don't know you are belongs to which religion you are trusting under which god) in Islam i can say some thing you trust it or not: In Quran says like this. If human being (a person) before dead two angels come to him If that person activity as per humanity as per quran he fallows as prophets(PBUH) rules, the angels first they said to that person which they want to take the soul welcome to heaven: if he opposite of that, they forcibly take his soul from his body and they say we push you in hell: After death there is judgement day if you was don good thing when you was alive it will save and the god he will send heaven: otherwise you will be push in hell. this is long philosophy i cant explain you on the net.
Still you have time always pray and do good things. chose good religion fallow that.

If i said some thing wrong god forgive me.

After death, one is first taken to the Yama-Loka. There, one is put in a jail. One day, one gets the verdict on one's fate by Lord Yama. Accordingly, one goes to heaven or hell for a prescribed time. Then, again one is sent to the earth for doing fresh karma, i.e., one takes rebirth.

Death is a different form of existence. The soul is immortal . What is heat .....it is the measure of temp. and what is cold....there is nothing like cold ....it is the absence of heat that we call cold. It is the same wid light and darkness...absence of light is darkness.....Death is much the same ....absence of life is death....
I would suggest you to read the books of Dr.Brain Weiss "Many Lives" ,"Only Love Is Real"....these talk about life after death....do read it they will be interesting

Death is the cessation of life. After death your body is either buried in the ground, where it rots, or you are cremated. TA-DAAA!
