My comp won't play any disks at all. It had been playing cd's, dvd's and games before but now it acts like there's not one even in the drive. I've tried several different disks and even cleaned all the disks.

Yeah, it's time for a new drive. I reccommend at least a drive that can read DVDs, and probably supporting DVD+-RW would be a good idea. Newegg has some amazing deals on everything, so you probably want to buy a drive from them.

Unfortunately disk drives do go bad at a fairly quick rate. You probably need to get another one. They're very easy to install. Plextor has some well-reviewed ones right now.

Before installing a new drive, I'd check with the drive manufacturer's web site to see if there's an updated driver. Yours might be corrupt or outdated and just needs to be updated.

you need new cd ... dvd rom
same has happened to me .... they dont seam to last very long 2-3 yrs and they cant read anymore

Need a new CD Rom.....As for the drive, If its made from loose gravel get it tarmaced or concreted for a better grip.

check your cables both side, if not a cable,
go to newegg.com, get a lite-on burner for like $37
