That has got to be one the most republican statements I have ever heard. You put these idiots in office, all of you repukes out there. How many people cannot make a living on $168,000 a year?? What percentage of people in the U.S. EVEN make that much a year??? Are you F N people kidding?? Does that show what MOST repukes are about, MONEY!!!! Oil co. cry when they "only" make BILLIONS off the people and the repukes help them any way they can. Repukes are the scourge of the U.S. Get a grip people, do something!!!

You answered it in your paragraph below your question: He's a Republican. They love their money and there is never enough for them. Why do you think the tax cuts went to the rich? Because the largest portions of Americans who benefited from those tax cuts are Republicans. And his cancer has nothing to do with it because he has great insurance. If it had been his cancer he would have said so and not mentioned the salary at all.

Please....just let me try to live off that. Oh, I probably can't do it, either, but I would sure like to try.

Edit: Oh, I must stop revisiting these things after I answer.
To chocolahoma: Sorry about Mr. Snow's cancer problem, but have you any idea how many people are struggling with cancer and the high cost of medicine on much, much less than $168,000 a year? My father was one. Worked like a dog on our farm all his life. His social security check was $610.00 a month. He couldn't get Medicaid...the monthly income cap at that time was $597.00 a month. He was expected to live and pay for his medicines, without any other government assistance, on $610.00 a month. I want to see Mr. (talk circuit) Snow do that.

Im certain you will have some Defenders of the Faith pop up here saying that "Thats no kind of money...i make more than that"
Yeah - sure they do.
Thats the main problem with our politicians today. They are so out of touch with reality and with the average American person. Dump 75% of them in Wal Mart or Krogers and tell them to do their weekly grocery shopping on a set budget and they would be lost. They wouldnt have the first clue how to do it or where to start. But they certainly can find their way to the mens restroom and play footsie with a undercover cop sitting next to them with no problem.

Please see what happens aren't they supposed to be servants and not get paid!!! What would be the big deal if he made what an average American made-40,000? Working 2 jobs? Would he be suicidal? Hahahaha who cares-I wouldn't because I'm used to being what they would call poor! Get over this mental illness of needing so much in life, heck they probably don't even know their own family members or care too! Here's a quote from G.W Bush "Americans will learn to live without".

Of course they can't make a living on that amount of money because they're too used to having that much. They have never had to do it tough and live within a budget like ordinary people. It's the same here in Australia. Politicians make heaps of money. They probably make about the same as in the USA. It would be nice to have that amount of money per year to play around with lol Unless we win lotto we're stuck with being poor. Don't stress too much. The politicians aren't going to take a pay cut at any time. They know they're on to a good thing even though they would like us to believe that they're the same as you and me. I don't think so!!!!

Well, now.

Your hatred is blinding you to a simle detail that explains his statement.

Mr. Snow, White House Spokesman, is a cancer patient and may very well have a million dollars worth of medical bills and monthly prescription costs.

Rather than beg the government to pay his bills for him, he has chosen to return to private life, where his skills as a television commentator and as an author will help him pay the bills that keep him alive.

He's paying his own way-- so that the taxpayers don't have to do it for him.

I think (and hope) he actually wanted out of being press secretary because of his cancer. I know he has a wife and kids..maybe he wants to spend more time with them? If you look at pictures from just last year to now you can see he looks like death warmed over.
If he really wants out because of the money and not the cancer..shame on him.
