Maclean Stevenson who is best known as Colonial Blake on MASH did a brief spin off of Diff'rent Strokes called Good Morning Larry. He was divorced and worked as a radio host in Portland Oregon. I'm guessing that's what you're looking for. Although too be fair with the description you gave it could also be Frasier.
