2 part question, thats 1- it signs off when I shut the flip and signs back on when I open the flip (screen). also, the wireless internet router is in my room. literally, when i go into another room with my laptop, i lose signal completely- do I have a B airport extreme? will a wireless usb G adapter for macs fix it?

you can't. Laptops in general are setup that when you close the flip(screen), the computer goes into standby mode, which basically shuts everything off that running but keeps everything you are working on.

So all your background apps, like AIM shutdown, your wireless connection is disconnnected, etc.


The 2nd part of your question, the answer is no. The wireless G adapter won't do any better because the router is B. Upgrade the router to G, Super G or even the new N. this may help it may not. when moving from room to room, you can go thru a dead spot which will disconnect.

Huh. I even have the comparable difficulty. i close down my laptop and its start to place in updates. yet i waited almost 5 hours and it nevertheless hadn't put in the updates. its purely says installation updates a million of two.

I have he same issue with AIM. You have to add a screen saver to your computer, then just leave the lid open, or partly shut to keep dust off the keyboard.
