How do we define intelligence?Does the intelligence of a species consist in it's ability to survive or it's capacity to evolve? Are these qualities actually one and same?Definitely mankind has evolved much more than many other species which have survived for a very long time eg.cockroches.Perhaps man will not destroy himself. He may evolve and become superman!Who knows

Evolution is a bloody game. Death is co-mingled with life.

So, personally, I don't think man, psychologically speaking, is any more or less prone to violence than the rest of the animals.

What we are though is intelligent and social.

What this means is when we decide to fight, as all creatures do eventually, our battles are epic. Highly planned, innovatively tooled, capable of encompassing millions, instead of the 20 to 30 members of a typical animal pack.

A lot of humans are down on their own race. I think this is a bit silly. We are what we are. We are evolving still. Take a deep breath. Enjoy the show. There is no crisis, this is just the way intelligent life develops.

We are a very young race. Everyone knows the young goof up a bit.

Man is his biggest enemy and he will be the method of his own destruction.
He is intelligent and technological,he invented the information society.
All of his knowledge is known to all.
There are thousands of intelligent people living who would destroy the earth if they could and within a couple of hundred years, technology will make it possible.
All intelligent, technological societies are victims of the same hazards.
That is why we will likely never get proof that alien societies proliferate through out the universe.

Yes, man is his own worst enemy.
Here's why even though some of us are intelligent;

When considering the intelligence of a species, you have to average the IQ of each member against the number of samples. This is called the "mean intelligence." The mean intelligence of the group will NEVER be as high as the smartest members of that group.

In addition to that phenomenon, there is this to consider. We have organized into societies. These societies have a hierarchy of power. So, the people who make the laws and establish control are not necessarily going to be the most intelligent ones from that group. In fact, one could make a strong argument that from observation that : Those who most aspire to power, least deserve it. In some cases, politicians are willing to cheat lie and steal their way to power; Ala G.W. Bush. In the American example, the distracted, intellectually- torpid populace has allowed an idiot to seize control of their once great democracy.

Another reason that the mean intelligence of the population does not operate by the standards of our most intelligent members is because of commercialism. The average person doesn't care for intellectual stimulation, he wants titillation and distraction. That's why there is so much crap on TV. As long as there are stupid people with money to buy stuff, greedy opportunists will try to get rich selling them what they want instead of what they need.

The glut of sports, mindless sit-coms, superficial talk-shows, pre-chewed sound-bites and propaganda that calls itself "news" is continually lowered to the lowest common denominators of our populace. As such, the functional aggregate IQ drops from year to year.

Then there is religion; the end-all be-all of stupidity and lies. As long as we have religion, humanity will not be able to live up to its potential. We cannot develop good brains once they have been poisoned by superstitious fears. We cannot undo the crimes that religion fosters, so we must live with escalating vengeance from generation to generation.

In America, they have become so de-evolved that they actually want to retry teaching creationism in public schools. Of course, the retarded zealots that promote this lunacy have repackaged their bunkum as "science" under the euphemism of "intelligent design." The American president says he "talks to God". Anyone who isn't frightened at that is heavily medicated or very stupid.

Greed, especially corporate greed, has a definite impact on the environment and the modes of our economies. As long as big corporations are given the rights of an individual but not the responsibilities, the immense financial power big corporations gain will always be used selfishly.

Anything that fosters stupidity will retard human potential.
Any system that rewards greed will harm the many for the benefit of the few.
Anyone who aspires to power will most likely be one who least deserves power, by ethical or intelligence standards.
As long as the hierarchy of power goes to those of lower intelligence or ethics, the actions of the group will manifest the lower intelligence and ethics of the leaders.

In other words, the body can only act as intelligent as its head. If the brains are bad, the body suffers. That's true of the Klutz who is his own worst enemy when he sticks his foot in his mouth or falls down and injures himself. It is also true of societies that allow self-serving idiots to run their affairs.

As soon as the body suffers enough, it will learn to replace its head. When that happens, the human race as a whole will learn to be less self destructive. Until then, you are right. Man is his own worst enemy.

this is an answer i wrote some time ago to a question simular to yours except it was geared more towards an individuals self destruction.

(I hold to Plato's theory that man is a 3 fold individual.1. appetite (devouring man)(my words) 2.reason (thinking man )and 3.spiritual (moral man) The bibical view is that man is in constant battle. spirtual nature V.S. earthly desires(sin nature)
He reasoned that mans duty was to overcome the enemy within (devouring man) by using reason and morality.
the enemy (called such because left uncontrolled will cause disorder and self destruction of the individual in stark contrast of it,s intended purpose of self preservation.)
resides within all of us to a greater or lesser degree.to keep control of him one must posses or have developed the other parts of self ,REASON and MORALITY to the degree that they over rule the voraciousness of the devouring self.

Yes ,I have met the enemy within,In fact it at one time controlled my life to the point of self destruction.and it also effected those around me.
because of a near death experience and subsequent spiritual awakening,Ive been restored to sanity and now work daily on keeping the self in balance.because of my belief in a higher power I have a daily reprieve.
conquer? I'm not sure of that. it too is a part of my whole self and has it,s purpose.)end of answer.

The devouring self or (sin nature) is a powerful opponent in each of us,on a self level it can take over and destroy your life ,on a social level it can do the same ,resulting in attrocities all over the world or as plato called it -Injustice.
how to change this? it must begin on a self level .an It begins with me! thing. By becoming a (Just Man).then we encourage others to do the same and we become a (Just society) as a Just society we can overcome our tendancy to destroy everything .
peace><

i remember a pic from a calvin and hobbes cartoon, where they're standing in front of a tree stump with trash around it, and the kid says something along the lines of "i think that the surest sign that there is intelligent life out there is that none of it came here".
we attempt to satisfy ourselves now whatever the cost to the future or others, and it is quite likely that will be our own undoing. we live with a "grab it and eat it before someone else spots it" mentality. it can't last.

nicely, you responded area of your question your self, perhaps without understanding it, by using fact as you're saying that could be a call.some adult adult males do, and a few do not; like breast augmentations. i think of it is common to love what you like, yet as i've got faith approximately who prefer one 'variety' over yet another, maximum adult adult males are a minimum of somewhat smitten by the female variety and all that is remarkable curvaceousness. My guess is that when it sluggish has exceeded you will locate that the lady who's related to those surprising mammalia, would be greater significant to you than her outer visual attraction and you will adore each little thing approximately her, alongside with what ever length and shape her breasts take place to be. On a private word: my determination is the organic boob, by using fact fake ones could be too enterprise and "plastic" and so don't sense as sturdy as a greater yielding form, i.e.- i like the genuine project purely advantageous! I do think of that girls could desire to be happy with themselves and not bow to "societal pressures", yet we the two be conscious of the fact of that is fairly diverse than purely asserting that, and that is greater complicated of a controversy than that. you're quite not on my own despite the fact that, if others did not like improvements of this type, women does not subject themselves to those techniques. i'm hoping this has helped.
