First, determine if your country has a monarchy. If your country has a monarchy, marry the Heir Apparent to the throne and become his or her consort. Note: you may wish to switch countries in order to carry out this scheme since the supply of princes and princesses is limited.
If your country doesn't have a monarchy, but is a republican form of government, win the popular election, suspend parliamentary rule, and become "President for Life". If you then wish to declare yourself King, no one will dare object. Just remember that it's better to be feared than loved.
