Ever see the movie "For Richer or Poorer"? Yeah... watching that ONE time was enough to turn me off of the Amish lifestyle forever.

Why churn butter when I can buy it? lol

The Amish lifestyle is livable except: no electricity/phone/auto.
I could probably get by with the life but not without the phone and auto.

I'd give it a try, short term. Did you ever see "Amish in the City" ? It was on a few years ago, you got to see young Amish adults all agog at Los Angelo's and then they paired them up with wise *** city kids. It was funny.

It would be ok with me as I grew up in an old fashioned farm family. We milked cows by hand, churned butter, gathered eggs, etc.

I've been to Amish communities...I think it would be interesting to try it out for a day or two.

I like the idea of simple living and I could do it for awhile, but there are things I wouldn't be able to give up forever such as electricity.

I wouldn't like to get up at 3am or whenever they do to do all that work but I think it would be therapeutic in a sense like a detox from all our electronic world.

I am surrounded by them here, and I would never, not for one iota of a nano second want to be them. Now to have their tax free bank rolls, thats another story.

It'd be interesting but I think I'd miss my PC too much ( so sad I know lol)
Also I don't think my back would put up with it for very long.
