yes i have once to my gf now my wife, 3 years ago, well of course she hit me first, it was new years night, we went to a party and she got drunk, i was driving so i had only 1 beer, well she got really crazy and started talking **** and she was trying to talk he clothes off to show that she can do what she wants, i stopped her and she slapped me in the face, well then i slapped her too.. she regrets that day to this day, and has never drank after that, we have been happily married for 3 years and have 2 children... she thanks me for saving her respect...
i believe if there is a real reason its not so bad... its bad when you abuse it.... so people who say they have not i am sure some of them are lying, people just don't want to admit that they did wrong, i was wrong to hit her but at that moment i thought it was appropriate, plus she hit me first.. so i think its justified...

Once struck - I was surprised by a woman and instinctively lashed out, I use to have a fear of people sneaking up behind me.
I have pushed and held down a woman I saw red with at the time. This is probably worse than striking a woman.
I went through a 12 step program, and learned a great deal about myself and how to control myself, as well as abuse.
Abuse is when someone imposes their will on another (which is loosely quoted from Gandhi). Women as often the physically weaker sex, are naturally threatened when physical confrontation occurs. This leaves the relationship one sided.in favor of the male. This perpetuates the abuse.
If you or someone you know is the aggressor or victim of this type of behavior, then the aggressor needs to get help for a genuine relationship to continue, relationship counselling is a waste of time.
Hope this helps, or empowers you,

I think it's stupid in a way that this attitude prevails that under no circumstances whatsoever a man should ever hit a woman. I think that encourages some crude behavior in some women to provoke a guy needlessly, knowing that he won't do a thing to stop her. I think hitting a woman is terrible, but if they don't act like a woman I'm under no obligation to treat them like a woman. I got slapped in the face and so I pushed her squarely with both hands against her shoulders and she fell backwards onto the couch. From the look on her face you could have sworn she'd been slugged hard on the chin. I took a walk before I lost my composure.

I realize this question is for "men", but speaking as a woman who's been abused verbally and physically, ANY MALE (I don't consider them a man by ANY means) that hits a woman needs his balls cut off and shoved down his throat. Jail isn't good enough for them. There is NO EXCUSE EVER for anyone to resort to violence unless it's self-defense. And I can't think of many situations where a guy can claim that. But I do realize it does exist. PEOPLE should never hit unless they are trying to save their life. PERIOD

Does your male friend know that in many police jurisdictions a man can go to jail for striking a woman? Even if she struck first and he hits back, he can still go to jail. I am a man and I don't believe that it is OK for a man to strike a woman under any circumstances unless she is attacking him with a weapon. At that point, he is justified to defend himself from bodily harm or worse. Otherwise if she just struck him, then he needs to walk away before he gets into legal trouble or does something he is seriously going to regret. Males can be victims of domestic abuse too. Sadly there are probably more male victims of domestic abuse than official statistics will bear out. A man isn't going to readily report abuse as women would. There are several good reasons why. For starters, he may not believe that he is a victim of domestic abuse. He also may not believe that law enforcement will take his claims of being physically abused because he is a man. Male victims may be ashamed to report that his female partner is abusing him out of fear of being ridiculed and made fun of because he is allowing a woman to beat him up. Domestic abuse isn't just a male-on-female thing. Regardless of whether you are a male or female. If your significant other lays a hand on you out of anger, then you need to walk away and don't come back. Don't stick around and become an abuse victim. All it should take is ONE time and that is it. When you walk away from someone who puts their hand on you with bad intentions, then you teach them that you aren't going to stand for or allow yourself to be abused. Maybe they will get the message that abuse isn't OK and they will treat the next person in their lives with more loving respect.

As in a relationship, NO. I do not believe in men hitting women.
BUT I must say that YES ONCE I did hit a woman. She decided to take me on (when I was a cop) and I did end up hitting her. Yes she went to jail.
