before you fit ..check the instructions .fit all the bits the right way up ..don't buy a cheap seat ...on most seats you have two plastic bits which locate the fixing bolts and then you fit wing type nuts from underneath...as the two bits on top have no locating holes there is a tendency to over tighten the wing nuts to stop them moving ..they normally supply a gasket to fit between the top brackets and the pan ..and the underside a domed rubber washer and a steel flat washer ..the domed washer should be fitted dome up....you could always fit another wing nut (from old toilet seat) under the new nut to form a locking nut ..but its an old old problem!

They do have a habit of doing this and, it avoids all answers as to why, there should be no reason and better men then I have tried and failed.
You can put on "Lock-tite" like one advise, you can use some "bathtub sealer" or even lock washers if you can find some to fit.

I think this is a conspiracy by the toilet manufacturers to make you buy new boards every so often, thinking your is broke, and, they drive you crazy with this.

You need to find a way to stop the seat moving as people sit onto it, use it and then get off it. When you consider the "wiping" element of the process, you can see how the toilet seat does get quite a lot of leverage on its hinges.

This ingenious little device fixed it for me and many people I have already told about it!

Be afwaid...be vewwy vewwy afwaid.

Actually, they ALL loosen, some slower than others. I find that sitting straight down on the seat, no wiggling while I'm seated and then standing straight when I'm finished goes a long way toward putting off the day when I'll have to do it again.

it particularly is a basic 2-state device. it particularly is up or it particularly is down. If a bloke lifts the seat to circumvent splashing it whilst urinating, i think of it particularly is probable a competent element. it would not be advantageous to take a seat down in somebody else's urine splashes. If a bloke needs to apply the bathroom and unearths the seat able that would not wholesome his meant objective, he transformations it. Are women asserting they're incapable of a similar assertion, judgement and action? i would not insult women by utilising suggesting they can't decrease a rest room seat. A bloke has already carried out them the courtesy of not p***ing on it. i think shall we set up a protocol for lavatory seats in accordance with our assessment of the statistical danger of the subsequent consumer of the bathroom requiring the seat interior the up or down place. on the different hand, because of the fact it particularly is a basic 2 state device, anybody powerful to apply it unaided could have the ability to fixing that state to wholesome their meant objective.

Using a screw driver slightly damage the threads underneath the securing nuts, you will still be able to undo them if you wish but they wont work loose on their own.
