Personally, I say it is no problem wearing red to a wedding. I'm not sure what "sexual" red is, but 'overtly sexy clothing (strapless, see-through, etc) doesn't belong at a wedding.'
What to Wear to a Wedding
Wedding guest style for her
* Informal Daytime: Short dress or suit (business attire OK for morning weddings)
* Informal Evening: Cocktail dress
* Semi-Formal Daytime: Short dress or suit
* Semi-formal Evening: Cocktail dress
* Formal Daytime: Short dress or suit. Hats and gloves optional.
* Formal Evening or Black-Tie: Long or dressy short cocktail (beading, glam accessories, wrap)
* Ultra-formal or White Tie: Long gown, extra glitz (furs, diamonds, etc.)
Do's and Don'ts for Her
* Don't wear white because it competes with the bride. There are plenty of other colors available.
* Don't wear black or sequins during the daytime.
* Don't worry about wearing the same colors as the bridesmaids or mothers. You can't possibly coordinate with everyone in the wedding party.
* Do wear something feminine and appropriate, out of respect for your hosts.
* Clubwear, overtly sexy clothing (strapless, see-through, etc) doesn't belong at a wedding. If you have to ask if it's appropriate, it probably isn't.
* Don't wear opera-length gloves (to top of arm) with anything but sleeveless or strapless gowns.
* Do take off gloves to eat or drink.
* Do use good judgment if the invitation doesn't specify the formality of the event. A pastel suit or soft floral dress for daytime or a little black dress for evening (after 6 p.m.) will take you almost anywhere.

you should never wear red to a wedding. It takes away from the bride.
You should always try to look your best but if you out do the bride your in deep do do with with rest of the family and guests. it is a night for the bride to show off. Not for a friend or other family member to go showing off in red.

Honelsty the only colour not to wear to a wedding is white. Red will be fine. If you look and feel good in it well wear it. Black is timeless and flatters and figure so i think that it is always a good way to go. Wear the red and stand out from the crowd. You'll look fab.......

i've heard that wearing red to a wedding takes focus off the bride, and onto the wearer because red is such an eye-popping color. from the way you're describing the dress, it is a little risky. if you still wish to wear it, go for it.

well honey, u shouldn't worry about your dress! red is the "v.i.p." color of this season. of course, gray or violet are also "v.i.p."-colors, but red is the fashionable. i also have a red dress and will wear it at a wedding in September. the point is that your shoes/purse/make-up/accessories should not be red. they can be yellow, golden, black, white or any other color u think will match. i think that your "red" choice is super cool. 'cause at weddings[especially in my country] women tend to wear only black dresses and they really think they are trendy. i think that black is old-fashion and i only wear it when i don't know what else i can or when i have to be classy and less trendy.
anyway, have fun@the wedding and send some photos.

The only colour to avoid wearing to a wedding is white. As long as your dress is tasteful then the colour is irrelevant.

Wear w.e the f*** you want. It's not like your wearing a big white dress too. Or lime - green for that matter. As long as the dress isn't extremely revealing then wear it. And heaven forbid it gets you the best man... ;P Lol.
