There are a lot of simple minds out there. You definitely asked this in the right category though. If you asked it in P&S, you know you would've gotten a bunch of thoughtless, silly answers.
I think people are just going too fast in life. They want the instant gratification of 2 points. Yes, we're all busy, but sometimes the best things in life come to those who wait. It's definitely easier to give a silly answer to a silly question, but a truly deep and thought-provoking question takes time and effort to answer. I appreciate that! But don't get me wrong we all need humor in our lives too! It breaks up the monotony. I love a good laugh too!
Some people may be afraid to answer your questions because they're afraid to show people their true self. Maybe they're afraid to open up. The way I see it, why hold back? What are they hiding from? Truth and honesty is what I live by.
I think part of the reason why it's harder to ask thought-provoking questions is because those that answer may be formulating their impression of you. They may define you from your answers, but I feel that your questions can also reveal a lot about a person's character. It's shows what's in your mind, heart and soul. Dang, that's deep!
We're a lot alike. Sure you can be fun and silly, but there's more to you than that. Each day, I am more intrigued by you. Promise to keep me guessing!

Lol. You shouldn't use effort when answering any question.
"Effort within the mind further limits the mind, because effort implies struggle towards a goal and when you have a goal, a purpose, an end in view, you have placed a limit on the mind."
(Bruce Lee)
Besides you either know the answer or you don't. And you either have an opinion, or you don't. No need to make one up on the spot...
Also:
"Dealing with complexity is an inefficient and unnecessary waste of time, energy and mental energy."
(Edward De Bono)

Opinions are so much easier to elaborate on than the more serious answers !!
An opinion doesn't really have to be based on a true and factual statement. Therefor allowing a vivid imagination to to run ramp-id through their questions and answers. ALSO,,,,,,,,,Just cause it's FUN !!
LOL !!

Good question. In my opinion, it is because there are so 'many' children out there, who have nothing better to do than to play games. Which brings me to the Grasshopper and the Ant problem. I think that most of the people who ask these types of questions and who give these types of answers are like the Grasshopper and will always end up flipping hamburgers somewhere for minimum wage. So, they act like they do because they have nothing else to look forward to, or so they think. That is if they 'think'. Again, in my opinion.

it is easier to do that because a lot of people can't think on a higher level and have more fun answering questions.. they might not be an important deep thinking question.. but its a question.. some people's minds can't opperate to where they can comprehend their own opinions... some people have never thought about their own view points or opinions
