Technically, you don't. You can get pregnant just by injecting a guy's sperm into your vagina which can be done by getting a guy to masturbate his seed into a cup and then using a turkey baster to get it close to the cervix (for example).

And of course some couples who have trouble conceiving "naturally" spend money to join their sperm and egg together in a lab and then have the embryos implanted in the uterus (no sex required).

Why would there be sperm banks if sex were required for pregnancy?

As far as why sex is the most common method for conception, it is just something our bodies are (generally) designed for (both to desire it and to conceive with this activity). Who knows why?

First of all, how old are you?? If you are not over 18, then I would not even consider answering this question for you. You should learn this type of thing in a health class in high school. These things just do not happen out of nowhere. If you can not ask your parents this question, then you should not be asking it on here either.
