We all know everyone is an individual and is completely different from anybody else, but certain personality traits can be measured and scored, and thus we get tests like the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, (MBTI). It measures such things as:

(I)ntroversion vs. (E)xtroversion
i(N)tuition vs. (S)ensing
(F)eeling vs. (T)hinking
(P)erceiving vs. (J)udging

My question then is without looking at any other variables such as physical attraction, familiarity, etc., how would a typical female ISFP get on with a typical male INFP personality. If there were to be clashes, in what areas, and if they found a common ground and a mutual admiration, where would that manifest itself?

Using just MBTI theory, both the ISFP and the INFP share a dominant Feeling function. Thus both would tend to be very considerate of each others feelings. Both types are very easy going and unstructured. Since the S and the N are opposite modes of perception, and ISFP will focus more on the concrete and immediate while the INFP will focus more on the abstract and distant (the future or the past). This can strain communications. ISFPs will not be as direct as say an ESTJ, but instead will give physical cues to indicate feelings and desires. INFPs will tend to use verbal signals, but carefully couched in diplomatic language that hints at what is needed. So the nonverbal ISFP and the verbal INFP can easily misunderstand or miss what each other are saying.
On the other hand, ISFPs tend to be outstanding artists and by artist I mean artistic performers. With their fingers firmly on the pulse of beauty, they can masterfully reproduce whatever moves their aesthetic senses. Conversely, INFPs tend to be less good at actual performance but usually very creative. So think of a marriage between a singer and a songwriter.

These two really aren't going to clash, but are rather more likely to build up hurt feelings that aren't always shared with the other. At the breaking point one or the other will move to Australia, join the circus, run off with a biker, or join a Buddhist Temple, leaving the other to file for bankruptcy.

This is very superficial. If I were you, I'd read all the different type descriptions across the net for ISFP and INFP. I don't think Keirsey's temperament theory really does this question justice as too much informtion is lost. Also, ISFPs tend to not be into the MBTI circle like all the various Intuitive types, so there isn't as much good self-reported information on the internet for the ISFP type.

Best wishes,
David

Okay, both of them do have common ground. Both are introverts, feeling and perceiving.

However, she is sensing and he is intuitive. This is actually a huge difference that can either spell compatibility or incompatibility.

Whilst she likes the details, and is slightly more grounded than him, he is a full blown dreamer.
She will get frustrated with his inability to even plan for his life. He is like the "fool" in the tarot, who takes things as they come. A dreamer, and a drifter, who is offered protection from the higher forces because he sees the world through the lenses of a child.

She, as mentioned is more realistic, and she can be an anchor to him. Sometimes there are quarrels due to misunderstandings and different ways of doing things.

Both are warm hearted and these should be a great bond.
A lack of true mental affinity should be noted, but compromise can go a great deal, as well as understanding and acceptance.
