re council tax moved from my house rented to student everything was legal leave local authorities new add ..which was paying full council tax have telphoned been to council seen them given appropriate documentation now they going to bankrupt me for unpaid council tax for time I wasnt staying in my house can they do this even though they have proof of my new add and certs saying who was living here can they do this just got the letter sent to my old address in london which I left in 2005

ok sorry having a rant came home to look after mum got carers allowwance became ill so on sick not allowed 2 benifits so still looking after mum so gov get free health care apply for direct payment get the award but guess what gov have no money heah gov niether do I do I bankrupt you sorry Im ranting all I get is rubish collected and pay council tax of beifits so they still getting from me

own my home so not sponging of society .. no rent relieve or anyting else always worked paid my taxes mums still paying tax ...have to fight for everything ..at end of my tether ..local council nightmare ....maybe I should take them to court for incompetance

They can't bankrupt you for non payment of council tax, they can take you to court to get the money, if you still don't pay they either use an attachment to earnings and the worst they can do is put you in prison for a couple of months which is pointless as you still have to pay it after you're released.

If I were you, go to the cab office and seek legal help, some solicitors give you a free 30 mins consultation so you'll know how to proceed.
Good luck, I hate paying the council tax!

Just a quick edit, you can't be annoymous due to you'll be on the electoral roll which by law you have to fill the forms, they always know where you are, more's the pity.

Your question is a bit difficult to follow, but as I understand it, the council are trying to enforce a council tax debt on your house which you had rented out to "student".

If that's correct, then the situation is that YOU will be liable for the council tax if it was a "house in multiple occupation" (HMO). So if you let out three rooms to three different students, each with their own lease / licence, then you will have to pay the tax and seek to recover it from them (good luck!). If you rented the house on, e.g. an assured shorthold tenancy to one person or family, then you are not liable for the council tax, your tenant is

Not any more I'm afraid, everything we legally do is monitored so only criminals can remain anonymous until they are caught!
A crazy situation that's been forced upon us all without any real debate!

I haven't heard of this council tax.

You best get a lawyers opinion.
Try your local legal aid.
