Ive just seen on the news that a car cruise has been given a blanket ban. Why?
Just because one or two unwanted individuals mess about then all are labeled criminals. Why?
Why cant a few police officers be in the area and nab the offenders, not the vast majority actually behaving.
These people have a talent and you should see some of these cars, they are far more worthwhile then even the Mona Lisa because it gets the kids involved in something that doesnt involve drugs. These cars are their pride and joys and they drve with the utmost care, and are not boy racers in clapped out fiestas or corsas.
I cannot understand the mentality behind banning something not dangerous and fun, yet people can go out and plastered and be sick everywhere and get in fights and even kill oter people and the government takes no action.
No wonder the country is falling apart, take away youth activities that are no danger to anyone and they will turn to dangerous things.

You need to understand that one definition of politics is "Change for changes sake" in other words if they cant find something to change then they feel redundant.

Actually i believe that todays politicians are as bad as Oliver Cromwell's Puritans, they also tried to ban everything that people got enjoyment from. OK this lot haven't totally banned Christmas yet but give them time and i'm sure they will.

Their seems to be two prominent types of jobs that Obama's stimulus is attempting to create: short term contracts to build or fix infrastructure, and long term alternative energy jobs. Both have benefits and detriments. The short term jobs will generate short term stimulus and create or fix things of value (but we should have been doing this all along; states know what needs to be built within their borders). Unfortunately, when you fix the bridge or build the road, all those people become unemployed again. That's not a solution to the problem, it's a band aid. I think the Obama administration is crossing its fingers that the short term stimulus creates conditions for long term economic stimulus, but they really can't control that. Alternative energy jobs could be a good source for job creation, but the detriment is that people currently working in other energy jobs, such as coal plants, will lose those jobs, and as far as I know, it takes fewer people to maintain a solar or wind farm than it does a coal plant. I'm not saying coal is great, it isn't, it's dirty, but if replacing coal plants to generate electricity with solar and wind farms to generate electricity, the net result will likely be a net loss of jobs. Electricity will still be generated too, once you come full circle you've changed nothing but the means of energy production; it creates nothing new. It doesn't matter though, people don't want to hear the facts, they want to hear that we're "going green" and that we're going to fix the country's infrastructure, and that everything will be OK.

I saw this on the news this morning. Apart from the ones that do show off their cars at these cruises, there were also the ones speeding around the streets at high speeds. These are the ones that ruin it for the others. It's the footage of the cars speeding through the streets where pedestrians are walking is the reason why they are intervening on the cruises.

They could make these cruises public and in a controlled environment with a police presence. This would stop the ones who are ruining it for the others.
