I think the police suspect the McCanns of having something to do with Maddy's disappearance and are probably very pleased that they are going to sue the Portuguese paper because when they appear in court they will be cross examined as part of the legal procedure and will have to answer questions truthfully about what happened that evening and this will all go on a court record.Gerry won't have the excuse to avoid the questions. The police are giving the Mc's enough rope to hang themselves and the suing action could be their downfall.

I think the reason they would want to scale down the campaign is because it is not doing what it set out to do any more. Instead of helping to find Maddie by keeping her in public view all it is doing now is attracting criticism and wild accusations.
This is not what the campaign was about. The campaign was to keep peoples awareness up so that the search for Maddie wouldn't just stop. To make everyone aware the the little girl was still missing and also in the hope that the kidnappers would eventually let her go and back to her parents. The hope that seeing the little girls picture everywhere would bring it home to them, that there was nowhere in the world they could take her without being seen.
This has unfortunately not happened. All it is doing now, is feeding the press and here, with wild and vivid imaginations, as to what could have happend to Maddie instead of actually finding her. It is very sad that people have to find fault with the very people who want to find her. It would seem that it doesn't matter what they do now, they would be in the wrong.
Peoples view as to whether they left the children in the apartment alone sleeping is not the issue here. Finding Maddie was and that is not what is happening here any more.
I feel so very sorry for these people. The rights and wrongs of whether or not they should have left the children alone, doesn't come into the equation for me. The fact that this little girl at the age of 4 is still missing and no trace of her has been found yet does. That is devastating news for any family. What about her Grandparents. What have they done to deserve anything. Your critisism rightly or wrongly must hurt them very much. They have lost a child too. their Granddaughter.
I feel for all the family and they will be in MY prayers.

The McCanns have never done anything to look for Madeleine. The reason is Gerry knew she was dead from day 1. The whole campaign has been about shifting the blame from themselves onto anyone else they can think of - Murat, the Portuguese police, the press. When is justice going to be done and these two loathsome parents put behind bars?

I sometimes wonder who's in charge of this investigation the McCanns or the Police, seems to me the McCanns are making it very difficult for the Police to do their job and if Police say they are suspects then so be it ,as I understand it the people who last saw Madeleine alive are the first suspects until the real perpetrators are brought to justice so I believe the Police should be allowed to do there job "PERIOD"

its funny isnt it they want to keep aout of the spolight from now on but they are getting press by suing the paper. surely it would be wiser for them to keep their heads down like they claimed they wanted to.

The press in general are like a pack of scavenging Hyenas and distort things either for their type of reader or to sell papers and when they make blatantly unproven or even unlikely accusations they deserve to be sued.
I think you should be thankful that you are not in the McCanns situation.
