This is my third baby - you would think I would know the difference, but I am beginning to question myself -
My stomach (uterus) is tightening up like a basketball staying that way for maybe 30-45 seconds and then goes back to normal.
The feeling is not painful, just uncomfortable. With my previous two pregnancies, I had preterm labor that I think felt similar to this, but when I was in real labor with both of them, it felt like this too! I have never felt a true painful contraction, I always have my epideral by the time the STRONG contractions kick in.
How many would be considered ok in an hours time???

thanks for any help

My midwife told me that braxton hicks you should not get anymore than 5 in an hour period. Why not call your midwife and ask if she can come and check you, she will be able to tell if they are real contractions or not and see whether or not you have started to dilate.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR BABY!

It is relatively early so that you can be getting Braxton Hicks, but it surely occurs, name your Dr. now! You will have to be ready to get in contact with a nurse at present. Be risk-free than sorry! I realize from revel in. It would simply be developing pains, or some thing worse however you higher uncover out. Normal Braxton Hicks are traditional on your final months are train in your frame to enter hard work and the stomach increases up and will get difficult such as you had mentioned.

Go with your instincts on my third I was told I had not started, I argued some what and was put in the day room to be kept an eye on. My first was induced and an epidural, second was induced and pethadine, my last the nurse said he was the quickest baby born she had seen 15 minutes no pain killers.

It was not that bad and I would not have had it any other way, even though the epidural takes the pain away it also takes the pleasure of birth away (if you can call it a pleasure)

Best to be safe than sorry go and have it checked

This one could be quick, play it safe!!!

2-3 irregular and erratic contractions would probably be ok.

Get it checked and congratulations!
