Homeland was never necessary, we hadn't been attacked successfully by Al-Qaeda for seven years and we slipped up allowing them to carry out 9/11. A handful of people not living up to their job description does not call for a new Department but an crackdown on lapses in protocol. If any necessary changes were needed beyond this, then perhaps inter-agancy liaisons could be used to enhance communication between all relevant agencies.

But to answer your question, Homeland has obviously complicated the lives of Americans.

No its taken your civil liberties .By allowing the president declaring a war powers act increasing govt. power and taking rights from the people .The bad thing is the war on terrorism is never ending and there is no one target or enemy to defeat .So basically you will never get your rights back taken by declaring we are at war against terrorism .Our govt .is considered by many other countries the most corrupt worst terrorists on the planet .Home land security allowed the govt to take all remaining power and rights from the people to transfer to govt.under the guise of saftey. Now all govt has to do is say your a terrorist and lock you up and not charge you or give you a court date to object

Its hard to tell, the Bush adminstration won't let anyone see anything related to this subject (or pretty much any subject having to do with governing the people).

Since one would assume he would not be stupid enough to hide it when things are going well (if only so his numbers might go up) and that he would tell us if he were stopping terror attacks; one would naturally assume he is weakening our civil liberties more than stopping any terror attacks.

No, they have not weakened any civil liberties, and listening in on terrorist is good idea, they need to keep it up. It should not bother anyone , if they have done nothing wrong.

I doubt it has weakened them much at all. I would rather not let terrorists carry on with whatever they doing with no surveillance at all. It would be nice to live in a world where it wasn't necessary.

Probably, but we have yet to learn the full scope of their violations of our rights. The FBI director admitted they were violating peoples rights! That is something they said they would not do, but they have.

Now that Gonzales is gone the gates are going to open and we are going to start finding out a lot of covered up information. I hope they charge Gonzales!

I would prefer to be protected from terrorists, even if it means the government is listening in on my phone calls, or whatever. If anyone was assigned to listen to my phone calls, he is probably very bored.
