if you bid you are entering a contract to buy the item, you can sometimes retract your bid just click on retracting your bid, you have to have good enough reason to do this though.

by not bidding in the first place. You enter a legal contract when you complete a bid anywhere and eBay even notify you of this on each transaction, so you are not able to retract a bid unless the seller agrees to it. Best thing not to bid unless you actually want the item.

You cant if you dont want it dont bid on it. If you bid and win then you have entred into a legally binding contract and are obliged to pay.

You don't - you bid, and if you win you have entered a binding contract.
