Minnie Ripperton is one of the greatest R& B vocalist ever. And by the way, she didn't sing Silly, Deneice Williams did. She was able to sing in 5 octaves and is probably the only recording artist who could actually sing while performing the "whistle register" (that very high pitch birdlike sound). She died of breast cancer in 1979. I cried then and I still cry now when I hear "Inside My Love". Many have tried to imitate her sound i.e., Mariah Carey, Shanice, Tanya Blount, Rachelle Ferrell. However, Minnie was classically trained and had great control over her voice. All of her recordings were live and weren't synthesized or remixed to make her sound better. Hearing her sing live was pure bliss. It literally sounded like angels singing. I wish many people in this generation would listen to her and know what REAL singing is. They can't compare. R.I.P.-Minnie Julia Ripperton (1947-1979). A true fan!!

AGAIN PEOPLE, YOUTUBE IS BLOCKED FOR ME AT WORK AND I SPEND ALL OF MY MONEY ON DRUGS SO I CAN'T AFFORD A NEW COMPUTER AT HOME SO I CAN'T WATCH THE CRAPPY VIDEOS YOU POST. I haven't any suggestion who Minnie Ripperton is however there is not any means in hell she's any worse than AC/DC.

The only thing I know about Minnie is she sings that song "Lovin you" and it is amazing. Love it especially the high high high note she hits perfectly. Pure vocalist.
Maya is hilarious.

Yes, I can remember her. I think it is so sad that her daughter's main childhood memories of Minnie are likely dominated by her struggle with breast cancer. She died just two weeks before Maya turned 7.

she was a sweet lovely lady and was taken far too soon from this earth!!!! i regularly strained my throat when younger trying to hit the high notes emulating her!!!!
