Since the break-up of Yugoslavia

the ONE remaining Country of the world with initial letter 'Y' is Yemen

For further info:-
The Union of Serbia and Montenegro was formed on February 4, 2003 and officially abolished the name "Yugoslavia."
On June 3 and June 5, 2006, Montenegro and Serbia respectively declared their independence, thereby ending the last remnants of the former Yugoslav federation.

There used to be three - that was before North and South Yemen merged into one country and Yugoslavia spilt into several smaller nations.

These days that leaves just one - the reunified Yemen.

The only other place beginning with Y I can think of is Yucatan in Mexico, but that is a state not a separate country in it's own right.

The person who told u there's three countries was correct a few years ago. There was Yugoslavia & Two Yemens ; Northern Yemen & Southern Yemen. The two got together into a single country.

They did the same as eastern & western Germany.

Before 2003, there would be two.. Yemen and Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia was abolished in 2003 so Yemen is the only country in the world with beginning with "Y"

Yugoslavia (he six countries that were once part of Yugoslavia are Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia.)
