Cats pick up toxoplasmosis when they catch and eat birds, mice, etc. so it might be a good idea to keep the cat in the house at least until after the baby is born.
The parasite is passed in the cats poo for only a few weeks after infection. However you should wear gloves or have someone else clean the litter box if you have one. Always wash your hands afterwards (a good idea anyway).
The parasite can also be ingested when you eat raw or undercooked meat, especially pork, lamb, or venison. Wash all cooking utensils used in preparation of meat and wash your hands after touching raw meat.

Sure. We got kitty #3 when I was 6 months preggers.
Rules:
Kitty gets a bath every 2 weeks. Use Johnson's baby wash on him/her and dry well with towel.
It would be better actually if Kitty was an indoor pet for both you and Kitty's health. By Kitty being indoors you know that if his paw is dirty it is the litter box, and not the garden. Also you can use the proper cleaning products around the litter box to control the bacteria situation. You wont be able to tell when kitty poops in the garden.
Baby wipes with alcohol can be used on Kitty's feet routinely as well.
It is best if hubby cleans the litter box, but if you must, wear gloves and wash up after.
This is also a good time to teach the young kitty about babies. Dont turn kitty into a lap pet, as much as you want to. Kitty may not understand later why you throw him off because of Baby.
Start early by laying blankets and bouncers out and telling kitty NO when he lays on them.
By doing this kitty will understand his place and not feel dethroned when Baby comes.
If possible, obtain kitty from a no kill rescue shelter with a "return policy" that allows them to find him a new home just in case it doesnt work out.

I know there are concerns about toxoplasmosis, which can be transmitted through a cat's litter box. However, there is no reason you can't have a kitten. The only thing I would recommend, though, is that you have another family member scoop and clean the catbox while you're pregnant.

As long as you wash your hands straight after and try not to touch the litter box. Wear gloves if you need to. Then it should be fine.

In all likelyhood, you will be having another child, not a kitten. It would be very unusual for you to have a kitten.

Don't go near the poo. don't kiss the kitten, and wash your hands after handling her. You should be fine. Don't garden either.

Kittens don't live in a garden, you cat should be kept indoors so you wont be scraping her off the streets, and she wont eat mice and bring the germs to you. Your cat should be fixed and have all it's shots and be an indoor cat or you couldn't possibly care for it all that much.

Get a cat. I had 4 and changed the litterbox. Just don't touch poop with your bare hands, and wash when you are done.
My kids are just fine. Their third eye doesn't bother them a bit.
Just kidding. They are just fine.
