Is there anything else I can do to get this ball rolling? I had a sweep of my membranes by my doc yesterday and lost my mucus plug today. My midwife suggested a cohosh tincture, but it makes me throw up and sex isn't working out...any ideas...I am small framed and the baby is already 10 lbs!

I am seeing a Doctor, he just has a midwife on staff too. He WANTS to induce me, but there is a n unaverage amount of pregnancies and the nurses union allows the nurses to refuse inductions. So according to the state of California I am not allowed to be induced.

It's probably best you not ask people online and consult a real doctor.

Get induced ... I would think that your doctor would even suggest a C Section due to the size compared to your frame. My cousins wife is the same way and they wouldn't allow her to give birth vaginally, it would have done more harm than good.
-Yeah, I completely agree with the first post. Consult your doctor first and for most. I suggest induction though if you aren't close to going into labor. Wouldn't want the baby getting too big for you to carry and hurting you.
-Um ... Then could you ask for a C-section? Labor isn't required for that and it's a whole lot faster so they wouldn't have to delay a room for how ever long labor might take. Just an idea, I hope you find a solution before you start having complications.

Hang in there... I would not induce... I was 2 weeks late with my son. My dr. wanted to induce that day, and since I didn't want to go that route at all, I think my body got the picture--now or never!
The weight of your baby could be 10 pounds, but it could also be 8... it's really hard to tell on those things. My dr. said my baby was already 9 pounds several days before he was born, but he was 8.5.
Some friends of ours say Chinese food helped them. Incidentally I went out for Chinese food the same night I went into active labor.
Good luck to you!!

Losing the mucus plug can occur as long as a few days before labor starts. It's often a first indicator for many women but I never had it happen to me. I never once saw a mucus plug and I've had two children.

You're so cute. I'm 44 and my kids are 4 and 5. This worked for me: the best answer I can give you is to o-r-g-a-s-m... repeatedly. I'm not talking about the orgasms you have with another person present, which can be fun, I'm talking about self-stimulation...good old-fashioned manual clitoral masturbation. Those orgasms actually tend to be more powerful and you're not worried about pleasing someone else, only yourself. (Avoid insertion of anything if possible. It's ok to have intercourse, but avoid any "toys" that may introduce germs inside you right now)
The bonus is, even if it doesn't work, it's atleast gratifying!!
Good Luck & grab the KY & Go At It!!

I'd see a real doctor, and not a midwife. You should have been induced by now. I doctor would not have let you go over if your baby was truly that large. Your odds of having a natural childbirth are getting slimmer and slimmer. My sister is 5'5", and had an 11 lb baby. She ended up having an emergency c-section because the baby was too big to fit through her pelvis bones. Please tell me you're having this baby at a hospital. Please. Please. Please.
