Or maybe I'm just confusing this with the fear of rejection. People tell me to get over it, but how? How can you get over the fear of commitment without actually rushing into a commitment? any advice on that? and also any practices of getting over rejections? I could work on getting rejected so much that the feeling becomes dull, but I've been down that road and it never dulls. Any suggestions??

It's common and normal with degrees of variation in all the people. The fear of commitment is basically a fear or doubt about our abilities to fulfill it.So what's the way out?Start with defining a commitment and keep refining till it's absolutely clear.Having defined it,list all the inputs and resources required to do justice to it or fulfill it.Next, take stock of what you have and what can be acquired to match the requirements.Narrow the gap if any, with an activity chart and and a time schedule. At the end or at a decided point of time,re assess the whole issue and either go for it or just abort it.What is there to fear in it?World over people go through this process ,mostly mentally, and get on with their lives in a routine manner. As for rejection, well it's a one time, one person based incident and can't make a rule or a law out of it. If I reject a thing based on my preferences, there are millions who shall go for it and some may even consider themselves to be lucky to get that.Things work out only if we want and really try for them and some failures are part of the deal.I think it's the time now to get GOING.Good luck .
