Just the littlest things make me tired. Anything from just having a shower to eating dinner. I feel like I need to take a nap, sleeping the days away, this is crazy. Does anyone have any answers as to give me some energy.

Sweetheart Your body just went through some major stuff. The doctors give you 8 weeks before you are suppose to get back to normal 8 days is really pushing it. Relax. You need to rest. Even with just a simple operation, our bodies tend to just be to tired to do more than grow hair. Give yourself some time. Baby steps. Do NOT do stairs, pick up stuff, anything that can cause stitches to bust. Why not just relax. Take a shower, then a nap. Lay down, read, watch the telly. There really are no quick fixes for this. Did you know, that it can take over a week just for the anesthesia to be released from your system? There is no reason why you should push yourself beyond more than a shower, a nap and rest. In a few weeks, maybe a short walk once a day will help rebuild your strenght. But until your body shows you it's ready, don't push.
Be careful you don't over do now, because it will make your healing time that much longer. Our bodies NEED rest after something like this. In the mean time, try vitamin's and drink lots of water. A multi vit. can help, but add iron, if your system can handle it. Iron is best taken with vit. C to avoid constipation. Eat healthy. Take care of yourself. Things will go back to normal in a month or two.

You need to treat yourself as if you had had a baby, give yourself 6 weeks to recover fully from the operation.

I had a hysterectomy back in April, I was off work a week and went back (I work at home - so bed was there if I needed it).

It seemed no matter what I did, I still could not get any energy. Then, I posted a question here about a month ago and was advised to take vitamin B12...let me tell you, the difference is like night and day, so I had been taking about 3000 mcg a day (doc told me I could not have a B12 toxicity, so I worked with the pills until I found that 3000 mcg did me just fine each day). I had run out of my tablets I found B12 'dots' at Walmart a few days ago, they melt in your mouth and are cherry-flavored. I take 3 every morning, they are 500 mcg each and seem to keep my energy up. I never have a problem now with needing to try to catch a midmorning nap in order to finish out my shift.

Good luck.

I've not had a hysterectomy but have had 4 laparoscopies three of them to check the status of my endometriosis and I am often fatigued for months afterward even after the initial post-op pain goes away because of the time it takes to heal from that surgery.

As for how to help the energy level I found that just doing a little bit of walking every day if I can helps. Also, try B Complex because this can also help with some of the energy levels.

With the shower if you can get a chair to put in there so that you can sit down for a spell when you shower. Also, when getting out of bed or off the couch use your arms to help you move since the abdominal muscles will be weak for a good while. For car rides you can put a pillow around your abdomen to help with any bumps on the road. If you must go shopping (later on of course) see about the kind of carts where you can sit down to do your shopping, and when it comes to lifting items see if there's someone around to help you get things off the shelves.

If you have other questions for me or just need to talk please feel free to e-mail or IM me off site any time.

I wish you all the best with your recovery.
